The executive director Ramal Taylor’s intention is visible everywhere. She began running an in-home childcare in 2015 because she saw a need for quality care while recognizing that not every parent works 9-5. Ramal had a business background before opening BBC in 2015, and since then, she has attained her Child Development Associate® (CDA®) credential and attended many ECE conferences and trainings.

Hello and welcome to Bright Beginnings Childcare. My name is Ramal Taylor, owner, and executive director. In 2015, as a Mom with an infant and toddler, I opened the doors to Bright Beginnings Childcare with a mission to provide the high-quality, safe, and loving care I would expect for my children to other families––and we continue strong to this day.

Bright Beginnings is where your family feels confident and secure knowing the quality of your little one’s education and well-being is never sacrificed for convenience or an affordable cost.

Every day, our loving and expert teachers partner with your family to build a solid foundation of trust and a high-quality learning experience for your child. Not only does your little one ready themselves for school, they learn to build tight-knit relationships and life skills alongside their peers and other families within the community.

When you join our family, you take advantage of extended hours, healthy meals and snacks, outings, activities, a planned curriculum, and a consistent learning environment for all ages. We love working with our families and giving them what all children deserve … Bright Beginnings!

Meet Our Director Ashley Nance

As a dedicated and compassionate daycare director with over 14 years of experience in early childhood education, I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young children can thrive. My leadership is grounded in a deep understanding of child development, a passion for fostering growth in young learners, and a commitment to supporting families and staff.

Educational Background: Child Development Associate(CDA)

Leadership Style: I believe in a collaborative approach to leadership, where every team member’s contributions are valued, and continuous learning is encouraged. My goal is to create a positive and supportive work environment that inspires excellence and innovation in childcare practices.

Philosophy: I am passionate about early childhood education and believe that the first years of a child’s life are critical for building a foundation for lifelong learning. My approach is child-centered, focusing on nurturing each child’s individual strengths while promoting a love for learning.

Program Director Lyrica McBride is passionate about teaching. With 2 small children of her own, she has a strong desire to help and nurture people and believes in providing a solid foundation where children can learn and grow to their fullest at BBC. “Bright Beginnings is my home away from home, and I would love to have our program be that for other families as well.” -Lyrica McBride

BBC initially ran as a for-profit, in-home childcare program. As BBC continued to grow, Ramal realized the deep need for affordable childcare and wraparound services for families in the community. She opened its first commercial space in October 2018. BBC:

Is one of the most affordable childcare programs in South Bend
Is breaking the narrative of trading quality for affordability through our supporters and funders who allow BBC to continue offering extremely high-quality care and education while remaining extremely affordable for low-income families.

Our methodology combines evidence-based and best practice measures to create a structure of programming that meets the outcomes and metrics we’ve established for our services. We have found that through engaging with our programs, students and families are empowered with the support they need to be on a path of self-sustainability that leads to vibrant, healthy families.

Our hours have been adjusted based on valuable feedback and community needs to better serve our families.
